President’s Message
Oscar Ramirez, PhD.

Scientific conferences are the heart of enhancing scientific knowledge. The transfer of knowledge is not passive but active.  A conference offers the stage for a vibrant community of researchers to get together to share ideas, network, and present the results of their research while getting instant feedback.  I am honored to be presiding over the Sixth National and First International Engineering, Science and Technology Conference at the Universidad Tecnologica de Panama.  This year, for the first time in our 36-year history this conference has open their call for papers to our international collaborators, and we were overwhelmed by the response. We are happy to welcome researches from 19 countries who submitted over 180 articles to be presented at this conference.

The Universidad Tecnologica de Panama (UTP) is striving to become a technological research and academic hub in the region, aided by its privileged geographical position.  In recent years, we have signed more than thirty memoranda of understanding with international institutions, all of them backed with research projects and, when possible, financial support. We are working to leverage the support of first class universities to offer academic programs beyond the undergraduate and therefore strengthen the research at UTP:

I would like to end with an invitation to the international research community to visit our web site, and/or our physical campus.  There you can find researchers with similar interests and contact them to start a collaboration.  UTP has 7 regional campus, locates within the country, and all the have researcher’s eager to team up with an international peer. Start planning your trip to the next International Engineering Science and Technology UTP congress in October 2019.
